Do you know the story of the Princess and the Pea? Hans Christian Anderson spins the tail of a prince looking for a princess to marry. But not just any princess. He wanted a real princess! No matter how far and wide he looked, he couldn’t find a real princess.
One night during a storm, there was a knock at the gate. A princess was caught in the storm. The Queen, seemingly very suspect, wanted to know if she was a real princess. She placed a single pea on the floor and then piled 20 mattresses and then 20 down feather mattresses on top of the pea. The next morning, she asked the princess how she slept. “Very badly!” The princess described that her body was bruised up and down because something was in that bed and she couldn’t sleep at all.
The Queen knew that only a real princess could feel that little pea through so much cushion!! Apparently, the pea was placed in the country’s museum for all to see.
